A Bad Hand is the eighth and final cinematic in the main story of HITMAN™ 2. It follows the mission The Ark Society, and the cinematic is set the following morning on 14th of November, 2020.
Summary[]
Lucas Grey and Diana Burnwood interrogate their new prisoner, Arthur Edwards, in the brig of the freighter. He gives up the names of the Providence Partners and while Agent 47 and Grey leave to pursue the lead, Edwards taunts Diana, indirectly, with the notion that 47 was the triggerman behind her parents' deaths in 1989.
Transcript[]
Arthur Edwards comes to while tied to a chair in the brig of Lucas Grey's freighter, a scar on his neck from the surgery to remove the poison chip. Grey, Diana Burnwood, and Agent 47 enter.
Diana: "Mr. Edwards. Still think this is maintenance?"
Edwards: "Oh, Miss Burnwood. What have you done? Changing horses mid-stream? Truly unprofessional..."
Grey: "You know what we want."
Edwards: "Where is the carrot?"
Diana: "No carrot. You're useless to the Partners. Compromised. Even if we let you live, you can never return. Why die protecting them?"
Edwards: "When I can drag them down with me."
Grey: "It's a bad hand, but it's all you've got."
Edwards sighs, collects himself.
Edwards: "Three families. That's all it took. The Ingrams. The Carlisles. The Stuyvesants. Three dynasties, secretly pooling their resources over generations. Creating a singularity so dense that nothing escapes its gravity."
Diana: "Never heard of them."
Edwards: "Well they've heard of you. In fact, you just became the top of their agenda."
Diana turns to Grey.
Diana: "Go. We can't give them time to retaliate."
Grey: "Don't take your eyes off him."
Grey starts to leave as Diana turns to 47.
Diana: "Be careful."
47 follows Grey, leaving Edwards and Diana alone.
Edwards: "Well. Here we are again. I must admit, I am disappointed, Miss Burnwood. I had such big plans for you."
Diana: "Save it."
47 and Grey depart the freighter in a speedboat.
Diana (VO): "I know the truth now. You're outplayed. You have nothing left to bargain with."
Edwards (VO): "You are so certain. So sure of the people closest to you. He never fails, does he? He never misses his mark. You found a window into his past."
In a flashback to the day Diana's parents died, the Burnwoods leave James' grave.
Edwards (VO): "And yet...Something else remains hidden."
A young Diana places the toy plane on her brother's grave, unaware of Agent 47 lying in wait.
Edwards (VO): "A simple truth you learned long ago..."
47 starts to press down on the trigger to the car bomb. Back in the present, 47 and Grey speed further away.
Edwards (VO): "No one, Miss Burnwood, is untouchable."
47 gazes into the sunrise, determined. Cut to black.Trivia[]
