The Bodyguard outfit is a recurring disguise that appears in almost every game of the Hitman franchise, albeit going through many different changes and designs based on the location. Usually it consists of a buttoned back suit, sunglasses, a white shirt and a black tie.
In all instances, the bodyguard disguise is very useful, as it allows the player to infiltrate security perimeters and bypass security. It also allows the player to be openly armed, although certain weapons cannot be carried without blowing one's cover.
Description[]
HITMAN™[]
Guided Training & Freeform Training[]
- Worn by Kalvin Ritter's personal bodyguards. They wear all-black suits and hang around Ritter throughout the whole mission. Two guards will stand by Ritter's room. The others will be patrolling Ritter's yacht.
- NPCs can't see through the disguise and it provides access to all areas.
- To obtain the disguise during the prologue mission without anyone noticing, a distraction must be used. You can lure the bodyguard standing outside Ritter's office to come inside the office by opening the door and then throw a coin on the ground inside the room. You need to be inside the office already while you are doing this. Since the door is open, the guard should hear it and enter to investigate. This would be your chance to pacify him and take the outfit.
World of Tomorrow[]
- Worn by the guards around the town; the uniform's use here does not make complete sense, as these "bodyguards" seem to function as city police. They wear a black suit, a white shirt and black tie; some don sunglasses (see image at the bottom of the articles). The disguise allows access to the sewers beneath the church, the clock tower (town hall) including the lawyer office and the ice cream shop.
- In the mission, World of Tomorrow, the disguise is not strong, as it does not allow 47 to enter the mansion itself where the targets, Silvio Caruso and Francesca De Santis are. In other levels, however, especially in Landslide and The Author (Patient Zero), the disguise grants much more complete access to the map, as these missions do not require you to enter the mansion.
- There are many bodyguards in Sapienza which could potentially be taken out alone. A distraction such as a coin will often be needed however to lure them into a position where you can take them out and also hopefully place them in a body container/locker/closet.
A Gilded Cage[]
- Worn by the guard at the entrance to the private interior of the shisha café. The outfit is the same style as that worn by bodyguards in Sapienza: a black suit and tie over a white shirt. The guard will ask for 47 to show his Courtyard Club invite before entering. With the disguise, Agent 47 can enter the employee area of the café. To obtain the disguise without causing an alert the player first has to lure the guard to an isolated area; an emetic weapon of some kind is the easiest way to do this. The disguise is also not very useful here, as it does not allow 47 to enter the consulate or school or any areas where the targets reside, unlike soldier outfits. Given its limited usefulness and the difficulty in obtaining it discretely, it seems to have been a decorative outfit meant to add flavor to the level rather than serve a real purpose for the player.
- The disguise is much more common has much more utility in A House Built on Sand, which takes place on the same map (see below.)
A House Built on Sand[]
- Worn by Kong Tuo-Kwang's bodyguards. In the disguise, Agent 47 can enter the shisha café, the closed carpet shop and the roof where the two targets are supposed to meet. It also provides Agent 47 with the opportunity to escort Matthieu Mendola to the roof and thus trigger the meeting between the two men. Be wary of enforcers, as Tuo-Kwang's personal bodyguard can see through your disguise.
Situs Inversus[]
- Worn by Yuki Yamazaki's and Erich Soders's personal bodyguards. While useful, many among the security staff can see through this outfit. Bodyguards are spread about the map, with numbers increasing as you get closer to Soder at the hospital same goes for Yamazaki at the resort. They wear all black suits and shirts with no tie; some wear black sweaters with suits, with a GAMA emblem. Some also wear red face-masks, medical gloves, and shoe-covers. The masked bodyguards are the guards who are for Erich Soder. The unmasked bodyguards are for Yuki Yamazaki.
- The disguise grants access to almost the entire map. The only areas off-limit are the operating rooms, the stem cell storage, the director’s office, the KAI mainframe and the VIP guest rooms, except for the one occupied by Yuki Yamazaki and her entourage.
- All of Yamazaki's personal bodyguards will see through your disguise, especially the ones in her room. Be wary of this if you do enter her room. All of Soder's personal bodyguards will see through your disguise in the Stem Cell storage, Morgue, Director's office, and throughout the whole hospital and resort.
- This disguise can also be acquired shortly after you begin the mission. After arriving near the cable car in the south part of the map you will come across two bodyguards talking with each other. You can use any of the objects that you can throw to get them separated and, without any problems, pacify one of them. Bodyguards can also be found patrolling the hospital's main building (they wear red masks) so you can lure a bodyguard patrolling the hallway near the stairs to the morgue.
- Another way to get this disguise is to lay in wait inside the Hospital, Restroom and ambush any Guard that comes in here from the Waiting Area. Drag the guard into the empty stall and take the clothes. You may also need to get rid of the Doctor from Intensive Care Supervision who also comes in here before going after the Bodyguard. Another way is to go up into the Observation Room near the West Stairs. Toss an object into the corner next to the door to the Secondary Control. Any guard will get there and you can take their clothes. Nobody can see the body in this corner so it won't be found.
Landslide[]
- Worn by Marco Abiatti's bodyguards. In this disguise, Agent 47 is allowed everywhere in the church including the morgue and sewers underneath it, the lawyer’s office and the staircase in the clock tower building, all apartment buildings and the three staff areas at the campaign booth, the stage and the pier. Additionally, if the bodyguards haven’t found the hiding Salvatore Bravuomo yet, 47 can talk to him and escort him to the clock tower to trigger the meeting between him and Abiatti.
Patient Zero[]
- In The Author, bodyguards are spread out throughout the entire map, with most guards around the church area and lower section of Sapienza. This disguise grants access to almost the entire map including the church, morgue, sewers, and cemetery.
- There are few enforcers, however the main one is the guard at the front door of the church, so find a way around or create a distraction.
- In Patient Zero (Hokkaido), the disguise is worn by the guards inside the hospital. As in Situs Inversus, the disguise grants access to most of the map except for the operating theater, the stem cell storage, the director's office, the KAI mainframe, the Intensive Care and Dexter's guest room. Despite allowing access to the quarantine area, the disguise offers no protection against the virus.

HITMAN™ 2[]
Nightcall[]
- Worn by the mercenaries under Alma Reynard’s command; it is the only disguise available on the map. This variant of the bodyguard disguise is different from the formal suit-and-tie normally encountered, consisting of military garments such as cargo pants, boots, field jackets and sometimes watch caps. In this disguise 47 can walk around freely except for a small area around the boat which is still a hostile area even when disguised. Alma Reynard can always see through this disguise no matter the visual variant. Reynard's personal bodyguard wears a different outfit; however, it cannot be obtained.
The Last Resort[]
- Worn by Tyson Williams' personal bodyguard, this disguise consists of a khaki polo shirt worn under a black plate carrier, a black military beret, and a prominent badge. There are two sets of this disguise: one worn by Williams' current bodyguard, and one in a locker in Williams' private office. This is an extremely useful disguise that grants access to all areas on the map with the sole exception being the women’s restroom in the restaurant building. If 47 finds the stolen USB drive and hands it over to Williams, he can get formally promoted to be his new bodyguard and given the uniform legally, which reduces the amount of enforcers for the disguise. The personal bodyguard disguise will be in a locker in the secret office in the villa; this can be opened by pulling out a book in the bookshelf in the main entrance room. However, doing so is suspicious.
- Note that you must be officially promoted to be able to have a full non-enforcer's disguise - if you sneak in to obtain it some guards may be suspicious of you.
HITMAN™ III[]
Death in the Family[]
- Worn by Alexa Christine Carlisle's personal bodyguards at Thornbridge Manor. The disguise consists of a suit worn with an ID card on a lanyard around the neck, with some variations having patterned ties. The disguise allows access to all areas of the mansion except for Alexa's private room. A few bodyguards, including the one accompanying Alexa, act as enforcers for the disguise.
The Farewell[]
- Worn by Tamara Vidal's and Diana Burnwood's personal bodyguards at Viñedo Yates Estate. The disguise allows access to all areas of the map except for the inside of the villa.
The Drop[]
- Worn by Alexios Laskaridis' personal bodyguard at Club Boom. The disguise allows access to the upper boiler rooms and club roof.

Trivia[]
- Originally the bodyguard outfits in World of Tomorrow and A Gilded Cage looked exactly like the CICADA Bodyguard outfit. This was changed with the release of the Summer Bonus Episode.
- In addition to the various outfits that are designated as bodyguard uniforms, some levels of HITMAN™ and HITMAN™ 2 will often have one or more security NPC's that are paired with a particular NPC which is usually, but not always, a mission target. These various NPC's serve the function of a true bodyguard and will escort their charge throughout the level, responding to threats and evacuating them to a safe area if necessary. If the player eliminates or hides the guarded NPC without disabling the guard, the now-independent bodyguard will usually proceed to wander the level randomly. In other cases they will sit down, or even drink or go to sleep.
