They make its first appearance in Ambush at the Wang Fou Restaurant in Hitman: Codename 47.

- in Miami it was supposed to be planted on Moses Lee's Car a by Kowoon Mechanic named Smith on order of Kronstadt CEO Robert Knox to help his daughter win the race, but the race marshal delivering the package was caught by security before he could do so and is being interrogated by them, while claiming to not know about the plot.
- Agent 47 can retrieve the explosive, plant it on Sierra's car instead and have Robert Knox unknowingly kill his own daughter when attempting to kill Moses Lee.
- The detonator is featured in the challenge tile for Explosive Liaisons.
