Cheryl was a character/VIP cut from Hitman: Absolution. She serves as the original/first revision of Cherley Keller from the mission "Terminus"

Overview - Behind the Scenes[]

In the game files of Absolution, a listing for a "supportingcast" can be found. Interestingly its a name rather than a generic NPC listing. Similarly to another cut character, Jack Hughes. However unlike Jack, Cheryl has a documented history. In the final game Cheryl evolved into Daniel Andrade's wife, Cherley Keller. This is due to Cheryl appearing in the IO-Interactive developer short film, "Shooting Ballet"[1].

Where she served as a VIP target for Agent 47 being guarded by both Chicago and Hope police officers. Interestingly, Cherley has unused dialogue in the final game as well, however currently it remains unknown as to what they are due to the file types being impossible to convert.

Trivia[]

  • The reason she is so significant is due to her name being very available in the game files. Similarly with Jack Hughes, it remains unclear as to why her name remained as many others could've been given the same treatment. Especially minor characters like Daniel Andrade, Mia Michaelson or Fei Zhu, who have an extensive development history.
  • It's unknown what Cheryl was like in earlier build of Absolution though it is assumed she had a much bigger role in the mission rather than being reduced to a minor character in the final game.
  • Interestingly, in the game files, Cherley's Contracts Mode Icon is under the filename "cherly_01".
