The Compass is a piece of equipment that features only in Hitman: Codename 47, with its role in later games being fulfilled either by maps or by the head up display.

Description[]

A compass, is designed to point towords the earth's magnetic northpole. An arrow giving the user a referential sense of direction. The Compass appears as usable equipment in Hitman: Codename 47. It's usefulness is below average as other means can be used to familiarise oneself with surrounds and direction. In this game's case, the provided map and rather small play areas for all but the Colombia missions

In Codename 47, the Compass, alongside its navigational counterpart the Binoculars, is can be purchased from the Agency Laptop's shop menu before any mission, excluding Training, The Jungle God, Say Hello to My Little Friend, The Setup and Meet Your Brother. The Compass shows the four wind directions, helping with navigation during gameplay.

When bought for a mission, a Compass will be added to the player's equipment for mission's duration. Once the mission has been completed, the Compass, like almost all other items, must be bought again for other missions

In all following games, the Compass is automatically integrated into the User Interface.
