Hernando Ferreyra, also known as "The Rival", is a recurring character-turned target in all the three levels of The Envy Contention 7 Deadly Sins Escalation in HITMAN™ III.
Background[]
Ferreyra is a rival assassin hired by Envy to beat 47 at assassinating other targets.
During the missions, Ferreyra has to be kept alive and conscious in order to complete the mission. Eliminating or pacifying him instantly fails the mission. The player must also eliminate all targets before he gets to them. Every time Ferreyra eliminates a target, he gets a point first.
In Level 3, after Karan Dhar, Helen West, and Maxwell Rutter have been killed with their specific kill conditions, Ferreyra becomes a target himself. Ferreyra is located on top of the Sniper Spot silo, using a Sieger 300 Tactical, and will attempt to escape.

Trivia[]
- Ferreyra's name is revealed on the map when the game is paused after killing the three targets in Level 3.
- Ferreyra is marked blue in instinct mode, like other VIP characters throughout the series. He will only turn red in color if all three targets in Level 3 are already dead.
- Dialogue laughing and mocking 47 will play when near Ferreyra.
- Ferreyra will not spot the player carrying or picking up visible illegal items, such as the The Cat's Claw and the Jaeger 7 Green Eye, but can spot the player doing illegal actions during gameplay.
- He also does not react to disguise changes.
- Ferreyra is not subject to many of the conditions that restrict the player.
- Whenever the player commits an illegal action in front of NPCs, they get spotted. However, whenever Ferreyra does illegal actions, he will not be noticed.
- He has full access to the map regardless of disguises.
- Guards will not arrest, escort, or shoot him.
- He does not get penalized for killing his targets in a manner other than that prescribed to the player.
- He will eliminate Helen West using lethal poison instead of an accidental explosion.
- He will eliminate Sister Lei by locking her inside the wine facility's freezer instead of pushing her into the grape crusher.
- He will eliminate Derek McInnis with the grape presser instead of using a knife.
- In Level 3, he kills some of his targets by only using his Sieger 300 Tactical located at the Silo.
- The map will say "Not Available" every time the player goes near Ferreyra.
- Despite being being a top-tier assassin who eliminates targets throughout the mission, if threatened, Ferreyra will beg and cower just like any other civilian. This is due to the game's simple security/non-security AI division.
- When killed, Ferreyra will drop two bottles of Lethal Poison Pill Jars.
