India (Hindi: भारत, Bhārat), officially the Republic of India (Hindi: भारत गणराज्य, Bhārat Gaṇarājya), is the seventh largest country by area in the world and with more than 1.4 billion people is the most populous country. India is considered as a threshold country, because its economy has been growing rapidly since the 90's. Nonetheless, more than 500 million people in India suffer from poverty. India is part of the BRICS association, together with Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa.

In Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Agent 47 visits an unnamed Temple City in Punjab, which is in the northwestern part of the country, to kill high ranking members of an Indian cult, as well as it's leaders, Deewana Ji and Hannelore von Kamprad.

In the second part of the World of Assassination trilogy, 47 visits Mumbai, the second largest city in the country, first to eliminate three targets as part of the war against the Shadow Client, a second time to eliminate a local con artist.
