Ljudmila Vetrova

Ljudmila Vetrova, also known as The Confidence Artist, is a target that appears in The Last Resort mission in HITMAN™ 2.

Background[]

Ljudmila Vetrova is an English confidence artist of Russian descent, who made a lot of money claiming to be the heir to a great fortune. Born to a KGB couple working in the UK around the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, Vetrova learned how to use her wits to survive in an increasingly hostile environment in the new world order. When Ljudmila was sent to boarding school at 16 , she ran away—unable to fit into the rigid system at the school. Angry that her parents had dumped her in what she felt was a prison, young Ljudmila traveled around Europe, eventually ending in Russia by way of train. Here, she fell in with a crowd of travelers who toured Eastern Europe with their caravans.

It was with this group that Vetrova learned not only how to exploit the confidence of strangers but also how to cover her tracks and disappear when needed. Together with her new familly, she built a new persona for herself—that of a lost heir to a great pre-collapse familly fortune. The scam worked so well, she traveled around the world on the bill of eager bankers, investors and just plain greedy men who wanted both a piece of her and her fortune. For over a decade, Vetrova lived off the good will of older men until she was discovered by private detective Tyson Williams who had been tracking her activities while working for the Russian Mafia. Williams saw something beyond the simple confidence trickster and took her in, promising not to report her to his client if she taught him everything she knew about social engineering and trickery. Eventually Ljudmila Vetrova went into business with Tyson Williams and his newly found partner Steven Bradley—building Haven from the technological backbone created by Bradley and financed by Williams. Vetrova uses her old tricks to get men into embarrassing situations, first extorting them (using assumed identities in various online dating sites and hiring actresses and call girls to play the parts she designs) and then stepping in to offer them a way out—use Haven and wipe your past clear. Personality and Behavior[]

Ljudmila is a classic "femme fatale": beautiful, cunning, intelligent, manipulative, and constantly scheming against allies and enemies alike. Her route takes her through a large portion of the public areas of the island, accompanied by her bodyguard. Currently, she hopes that Jason Portman will leave his private hut, as she wants to use it for her own purposes. She is also a technical expert on the Haven computer system itself, and if Haven's server is sabotaged she will run to the server room along with the other two targets, as all three of them are required to reset it.

Haven Island[]

Aiding and abetting Ljudmila Vetrova throughout the mission reveals that she had an extremely elaborate plan for escaping Williams and Haven:

Tyson Williams's medical ailment flared up again because Vetrova poisoned him, hoping it would kill him. Ljudmila has offered Jason Portman $500 million for his controlling stake in MuchTalk - the deal was jeopardized by a long-running feud that Portman had with Steven Bradley, but private phone calls he makes in his villa reveal that he was still planning on accepting the deal. Vetrova also tries many different ploys to lure Portman out of his villa for an extended period of time.

She also instructed an employee in Haven's server farm to steal information and deliver it to her on a USB, and later throws her under the bus by asking 47 (as Tobias Rieper) to retrieve the USB in exchange for a $1 million discount on his Haven fees.

When Ljudmila Vetrova privately meets with Steven Bradley in Haven's jacuzzi lounge, they discuss how the information on Portman's computer that they just hacked can help them wipe their data off every database in the world, aiding in their escape. Bradley replies that he can trigger the money transfer from his laptop on short notice, and that "Sure, we'll nuke every hospital and criminal record in the US in the process, but yeah, it should work". Vetrova also mentions that if Williams doesn't die due to his ailment, she is considering asking 47 (as Tobias Rieper) to kill Tyson Williams. She required said USB to access files on Portman's computer, along with cracking his password with help from Steven Bradley.

When she next walks into the spa facility without Steven Bradley, she calls another accomplice named Pietro on the phone - she says that she did everything he instructed and asks him if he has certain "papers" ready for her. Pietro has known Ljudmila Vetrova long enough to know that she doesn't naturally speak in a British accent, and she calls him "darling", hinting that she is also ready to ditch Steven Bradley as soon as they make their escape. She planned to meet Pietro in Paris.

If 47 holds Ljudmila at gunpoint, she will try to appeal to him, claiming that the two of them are alike, and insist that he can't just "snuff out a kindred spirit".
She will drop a Haven Island Villa key when she is killed.
