The M134 Minigun (simply shortened to the "Minigun") is a weapon that is featured in Hitman: Codename 47 and Hitman: Contracts.
Description[]
The Minigun is a very large and heavy rotary cannon designed to fire in excess of 2,000 rounds per minute. It has immense power, and is capable of wiping out clusters of enemies in simple bursts. Continuous fire in dark areas can also create a blinding smoke effect over the camera.
Downsides to the weapon include its sheer weight. When equipped 47 will travel at half walking speed. He will not be able to jump balconies, sprint, croutch or holster the weapon either. Another downside is that the weapon uses a tremendous amount of ammo, which itself is pretty rare. A third and significant downside is the Minigun requires a few split seconds for it's rotating cannon to "spin up" before it can be fired. This can provide several issued when in the midst of a firefight.
Despite its incredible power, the Minigun is impractical and limiting without a source of ammunition.
Appearances[]
Hitman: Codename 47[]
The Minigun can be bought in the level Plutonium Runs Loose for $10,750, while ammo can be bought for $1,000 each. It can also be found in the level Say Hello to My Little Friend and in the final level, Meet Your Brother, in a maintenance room.
Hitman: Contracts[]
47 equipped & firing the Minigun.
The Minigun makes a secret reappearance in the first level of Contracts, Asylum Aftermath. It can be found in the possession of an Asylum Patient located in a locked wing, next to the Scanner. The door can only be unlocked by acquiring Ort-Meyer's Keycard during The Wang Fou Incident, and replaying Asylum Aftermath, at which point the doors to the wing should be unlocked.

Trivia[]
- The Minigun is the most powerful weapon in the entire series by sheer firepower. It is also the fastest firing and heaviest weapon in the series.
- The Minigun is the only weapon in the Hitman series to directly affect the player's movement, apart from scoped sniper rifles.
- Strangely, the weapon does not appear to have any visible magazine which would hold the thousands of rounds of ammunition it requires.
- In Codename 47, the spin-up animation can be bypassed by switching the fire mode to semi-automatic.
- Oddly enough, the patient who has the Minigun in Contracts does not seem hindered in any way by the gun's weight, going so far as running back and forth while still wielding it. He will also never fire on Agent 47, regardless of what is done to him.
- The handheld, man-portable Minigun is a common fixture in combat and military science fiction media; its first appearance was probably the 1987 sci-fi film Predator. Typically, its attributes are significantly exaggerated from its real-world counterparts, whose weight and power requirements make it impossible to carry (the original film version required hidden power cables to function), although vehicle-mounted and automated versions of the weapon have been common for some time.
