Manor also known as Beldingford Estate or Beldingford Manor is situated in an unmentioned area of England, United Kingdom. It is featured in Hitman: Contracts in the fourth mission, Beldingford Manor.

History[]

A large old 'stately home' (traditional rural house of the British elite) situated on an extensive private estate, it was the ancestral home of English aristocrats Lord Winston Beldingford and his son Alistair Beldingford. They were both killed by 47 during his night-time infiltration of the Manor. Present also were the Beldingfords' private staff and guards, as well as several guests staying for the hunting party the following morning.

The Beldingfords had kidnapped another privileged Englishman, Giles Northcott (a noted cross-country runner), whom they and their invited guests intended to hunt like an animal across the estate. This never came to pass after 47 carried out his assignment, freeing Northcott and eliminating his kidnappers. At least some staff were in on their employers' crimes, indicated by the presence of guards and a stable-boy near the captive Northcott, and by two guards overheard discussing the planned hunt; one guard implied that Northcott was not the first victim, hinting that human-hunting was an established secret pastime of the Beldingfords and their friends.

Structure[]

Wider Estate[]

Beldingford Manor proper comprises a large area of typical English countryside including features such as hills, lakes, woodland and open fields, some of which are apparently farmed by the Beldingfords. The estate is large enough that its Lords are able to give their victims a significant head start before giving chase (a noisy affair of horses, dogs and gunfire according to one guard), not to mention kill them in broad daylight, without fear of discovery.

House Surroundings[]

The house and adjacent buildings (approachable via a presumably very long driveway) are located near the bottom of a partially wooded valley, beside a lake and a ploughed field, and are mostly enclosed by an outer stone wall. There is a large two-storey stables, where the Beldingfords keep more than just horses, along with a barn, guardhouse, kennel, tennis court, hedge maze, gardens, patios, open yards and a ruined medieval building from where 47 begins and ends the level, exfiltrating by boat. The level notably incorporates animals into gameplay; the family's dogs and horses both pose a potential hazard to 47.

House[]

The house is a traditionally-styled British stately home, several centuries old, with three stories and a basement. It features several entrances and large old-fashoned windows, and the interior is decorated in the typical style, with wood panelling, antique furniture, and many paintings. The lower two-story section at the west end of the house containing the kitchen and staff quarters lacks the grand appearance of the other parts, and seems to be an extension built later. The basement comprises two sections separated by a fence that must be accessed by different stairways, and contains storage areas and a collection of drinks, including whisky, of which Alistair is a fan. The ground floor contains multiple halls and sitting rooms, a dining room, and a reading room with a large open fireplace, where Alistair is fond of lounging with said whisky. The upper floor contains Winston's and Alistair's bedrooms (each with outside balcony), Winston's office, a guest bedroom, bathroom, large landing with pool table, and several secret passages. The loft is the smallest floor, accessible by ladder or hidden stairs, and is seemingly little used, still featuring an access hatch on the old-fashioned chimney. The house contains secret features that hint at the Beldingfords' dark history: a trapdoor in the hedge maze drops down into the basement, one of the bookcases in the reading room is a hidden door, and more hidden doors conceal the aforementioned secret passages upstairs; including one between Winston's room and the staff bathroom, from where the bathroom can be spied on through the two-way mirror.
