Mia Michaelson is an unique minor character & optional target in Hitman: Absolution. She appears in the first segment of the mission 'Blackwater Park'.
Description[]

Mia serves as the Head of Security in the ground-floor main lobby of Blackwater Park. She can be found wearing a black suit and moves throughout the lobby ensuring everything is going smoothly.
Overview[]

On February 13th, 2013; Agent 47 arrives to the apartment building to kill both Blake Dexter & Layla Stockton while retrieving Victoria. However in his way to getting up to the higher floors are multiple security guards & Head of Security, Mia Michaelson. Interestingly the elevator is linked with a retinal scanner and it can only be accessed with Mia's retinal or disabled manually, Throughout the interior of the lobby & theatre dining room, many security guards & Blackwater staff distain her.
For instance when she approaches security guard Kenneth Hartman about needing the manager at floor level 10 and asks Kenneth that if he see's him then ask him to find her as she'll open the elevator for him. Kenneth disagrees claiming he can just use the override switch but is immediately scolded by Mia as she claims nobody but her has exclusive access in opening the elevator. She continues to reprimand him until he refers to her as 'ma'am'. From there she'll mock other security guards and talk with Eskil Whitt about the manager. Afterwords Eskil & two other security guards gossip about her.
Eventually she'll speak with manager 'Juan D. LeCok' about her 'people' needing access to the server room on level 10. Juan gets confused as he iterates he was busy at the moment. Mia disregards and withdraws her statement claiming her guys can find a way up without her, Juan however obliges though states he was busy setting up the movie she asked for. Mia though orders Juan to finish that task then find her, as she'll let him in the elevator. Juan however sarcastically states he can push the button himself and thanks her but Mia scoldingly stonewalls Juan about having a security threat as the scanner will only allow her to open the elevator doors. Afterwords both Juan & security guard Michael A. Skiles gossip about her in the backroom hallway.

The Movie Reel[]

If the player acquires the Movie Reel in the locker area of the park and inserts it in the projector Mia will scold at Juan to turn it off. This can result in two things happening. If Juan is still alive he will simply turn off the projector but with Mia watching diligently until he disables the projector. If Juan is subdued/killed Mia will inspect the projector however will be unknowing of how to turn the device off.
I Got My Eyes on You (challenge)[]

Mia Michaelson serves as an optional target for this challenge. That being the player has to kill/subdue her and use her body to access the retinal scanner. Doing so results in the player completing the challenge though her fate is unknown if subdued.
You Can Manage (challenge)[]
For this challenge the player must disguise themselves as Juan D. LeCok and approach Mia. Doing so will result in Mia granting access to the elevator but she orders 47 to return to her as soon as possible.
Behind the Scenes[]
In the game files of Hitman: Absolution, Mia's Contracts Mode portrait is listed under both the 'Supporting Cast08' tab which is tab for 'Main Cast' targets in the campaign. Interestingly her Contracts Mode portrait is a developer screenshot rather than being a rendered image with a grey-background like many other NPCs in the final game, which points to her originally being a cut target reduced to an optional target/minor character. Its unknown why this change was made since she's depicted being killed in the trailer 'Living, Breathing World[1]'.
According to the developers in Full Disclosure, they always intended & planned for the 'head of security' to remain named as 'Mia'. Which supports the latter statement.
In the 'Introducing Disguises' trailer its revealed about 3 Blackwater Tactical security guards patrolled the main lobby of Blackwater. For unknown reasons they were cut from the final game but are still mentioned directly by Mia in the final game.
Trivia[]
- Mia Michaelson was a custom target in the Contracts Mode for Absolution.
- In the Penthouse segment her model & Contracts portrait is reused for background character Brianna P. Ford.
- If the player successfully disables the retinal scanner, Mia won't ever get upset but security guard Kenneth will comment that Mia will flip if she finds out.
