Money is an integral element in Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman: Blood Money and the Freelancer mode of the World of Assassination trilogy. Missions are often emphasized as a reliable source of income, but the player may resort to other means of obtaining money in the latter two games. Money is mentioned throughout the series, but only appears as an interactive element in the aforementioned three installments.

In Codename 47 and Blood Money, money is measured in US dollars ($), and is earned for mission and objective completion. In both games, money is used to acquire better gear and weapons.
In Freelancer, the in game money is referred to as Merces and is the new currency system introduced and used in the game mode. They're used to buy weapons and tools from Suppliers scattered on the maps while doing missions. Each mission will always have one Supplier at a random place, usually a covert, secluded location with no NPC passing by.
Additional Rewards[]
In Blood Money, several optional objectives can be completed to earn extra money from a mission. These objectives can vary from item collection (a briefcase of diamonds), to additional assassinations. Ratings are also a good way to earn extra money, as they still reward cash even if the mission has been completed beforehand. Certain ratings have certain amounts of money bonuses tied to them. The highest is Silent Assassin, which will reward the player with $150,000.
In Freelancer, several optional objectives can be completed to earn extra money from a mission. Unlike in Blood Money, these objectives can vary widely, and are tied to the type of syndicate the player is attacking. These objectives can also vary from simple actions, to intricate assassination methods, and have varying rewards in Merces. Some objectives can clash with others, making it impossible to attain all objectives in one mission.
