- "Makes your gas roar"
- ―Rex Gas' slogan
Rex Gas is a gas station chain and convenience store that appears in Hitman: Absolution. It appears in the missions "Hunted and Hunted", "Shaving Lenny", "Dexter Industries" and "Attack of the Saints".
Description[]
Rex Gas is a gas-station convenience store chain that is seen all over the place in Hitman: Absolution. It is shown to be a primary source of gasoline within both Chicago, Illinois and Hope, South Dakota.
Missions (In Order)[]
These are detailed descriptions of every in-universe appearance of Rex Gas in Absolution.
Hunter and Hunted (Absolution)[]
In the corner of the map in Chinese New Year, near some mopeds and chinese garage doors is a gas pump. On the side it promotes Rex Gas with the bottom-front promoting Diamond Gas. The pump can be used as an interactable weapon to kill Frank Owens.
Shaving Lenny[]
In Shaving Lenny in the level "Street's of Hope", posters of Rex Gas can be seen within the interiors of Green Mountain Convenience Store and Benny's Garage. On the far left side of Benny's garage is a gas pump supporting the same liveries as the one in Hunter and Hunted. It can also be used as an interactable weapon to be used as an "accident" kill on Landon Metcalf
Dexter Industries (Mission)[]
In the mission "Dexter Industries" in the beginning cinematic cutscene shows an abandoned and vacant Rex Gas Station. This showcases it's been abandoned for years and has been in operation in a very long time.
Attack of the Saints[]
Rex Gas makes it's fourth and final appearance in "Attack of the Saints" in the level "Reception" which is used as an interactable weapon.
Behind the Scenes[]
In "Welcome to Hope", inside the Great Balls of Fire bar exists concept art of a closed and vacant gas station. This is of course concept art of the Rex Gas station seen in the mission "Dexter Industries" however in the concept art there is no existing livery or logo, implying IO-Interactive had troubles on making it either a game cinematic or in-game location.
In the "Shaving Lenny" E3 2012 gameplay demo build of the game there existed posters of "GT Oil" instead of Rex Gas. However no mention of GT Oil is ever mentioned in the final game. This is due to the fact that the developers (for unknown reasons) found an issue with GT Oil and scrapped/reworked the company into Rex Gas.
Trivia[]
- Rex Gas is never directly mentioned by any supporting/minor character in the game.
