Richard J. Magee (also known as "The Guru" and one of "The Deceivers") is an Elusive Target in the HITMAN™ mission World of Tomorrow.
Briefing[]
Little is known about Magee's early life - only that he suddenly appeared during the "Self-Help" boom at the end of the 1990's, and quickly became a star within the political elite in Washington - appearing as a "self-help" poster boy on various national television shows, writing a line of best selling books, etc. Magee was making a fortune. His "wise" words were a gold mine.
But the trail he left behind was not so pure... rumours of extortion, manipulation and even suicide surrounding his clients started to circulate... but were never proven. He had his clients tightly in his grip - they would forgive him for anything... and hence he seemed to have a free ticket to continue his work.
On a side note: Several of his protégés are former members of the Church of Ascendants, though that organization does not seem to be directly involved in Magee's activities.
A strong supporter of Congressman Anthony L. Troutt, they have often been seen together - though their connection has been vague. Our client believes though that they are very much connected - as his power of manipulation and Troutt's political ambition are directly responsible for their son's death.
But Magee does not only work for Troutt - though he is following Troutt on his European tour, we believe that his business in Sapienza is more personal. We only know that he is meeting up with a Keith Keeble - his latest conquest. But not quite sure where... only that Keeble's lawyer, Catherine Feller will make contact once the unknown location is verified.Description and Behavior[]
Richard J. Magee starts the mission outside the café with his client, Keith Keeble. While sitting on the table, Richard tells Keith not to trust his parents' lawyer before they head into Salvatore Bravuomo's office to meet Edilio Napolitano, as well as Keith's lawyer, Katherine Feller.
During the meeting, Katherine begins to question Richard about his friendship with Keith and the suspicious purchases made with the latter's trust fund. Richard's composure falters when she reveals she has access to Keith's trust fund, resulting in him calling her a "bitch" and begging Keith to stay with him. He will wander between Edilio's main office and the rear room where both of them chat, giving the opportunity to create an accident kill with a chandelier. He is also able to spot 47 while he is trespassing inside the main square town hall's office, especially with the office's interior being a Hostile Area.
Once Richard is killed, Katherine tells Keith that his parents are waiting on him, in which he agrees to meet them. They will then head to the pier near the church.

Trivia[]
- While Richard J. Magee himself must be killed, the Client's son and the Client's Lawyer must not be touched. This stipulation was eventually removed for his appearance as part of The Deceivers, to avoid conflict in the mission's storyline.
- Richard J. Magee is one of the four legacy targets that their target photo was not reused in HITMAN™ 2, along with Anthony L. Troutt, Brendan Conner, and Richard M. Foreman.
- As part of The Deceivers, Richard's reason for being a target was rewritten. Initially, the contract was from Keith's parents who wanted to rescue him. In The Deceivers, an unknown client placed the contract to avenge his son's death.
- Despite being the 16th elusive target to appear in the original release, The Guru re-appeared as the 9th target during the reactivations. Although no official statement was made, the reactivation lined up with the release of the Hitman Spring Pack[1]. It is believed that IO Interactive simply wanted an elusive target that took place in Sapienza, Italy to be available for players new to the Spring Pack.
- The security room above Salvatore Bravuomo's office has additional guards being placed during the elusive target mission.
