Roman Khabko is a target that appears in the Crime and Punishment mission in HITMAN™ 2: Sniper Assassin.
He spent the last decade of his life incarcerated within the Perm-14 prison facility. However, as an imposing figure - in terms of both physical strength and political ties - he eventually went on to run the prison as the warden's unofficial second-in-command.
Background[]
In New York, Khabko quickly made a name for himself as a ruthless enforcer and rises through the ranks of the American arm of the Russian Mafia, spending time in several New York prisons before leaving the country after a drug deal went sour and four DEA agents were left dead at the scene.
When he finally decides to overstep his boundaries and blackmails an important diplomat, the Russian government swoops in and has Khabko arrested. He is placed in a remote, privately-run prison known as Perm-14 and spends the next decade there, eventually ending up running most of the place since the warden is often absent.
Now, however, age is showing its teeth. Khabko dreams of returning to warmer climates and so he's pooled his remaining wealth into the effort - offering Warden Reznikov ten million US Dollars to help him escape the prison.Appearance[]
Roman Khabko is a large, powerful Caucasian male. He can comfortably overpower his fellow (albeit, more than likely malnourished) prisoners within Perm-14 despite his gray colored eyebrows hinting at his older age. He is completely bald and has multiple scars across his face, earned either during his youth as a mafioso or from within the prison facility.
His torso and arms are littered with tattoos, a mixture of pictures and Russian text. He usually roams Perm-14 shirtless, equipped only with pants, shoes and a golden chain around his neck. However, if given the opportunity, he will change clothes in preparation of his release from the prison. He will don a distinctive red jacket, an open collar white shirt and smart black pair of both pants and shoes.
Trivia[]
- Roman Khabko is one of the only two sniper targets to murder someone during the level, with the other being Colonel Jin Noo. He can potentially murder another target and a generic prisoner, neither of which would trigger the mission's failure.
- He and the warden can both be killed by someone other than 47, as the buildings they are in can be set on fire by the prisoners, killing them instantly.
- Along with Jordan Cross, Robert Knox, and Sinhi Venthan, he can murder another target, as he strangles the warden should the two meet without any guards around.
- This example is notable as he is the only target to murder another target personally and in cold blood, as Robert uses a remote device on his daughter by accident, Jordan commits the crime impulsively during a fit of rage, and Akka kicks Noel Crest off a cliff as revenge.
- He has no honor whatsoever and will murder anybody for the most petty reasons imaginable.
- His attire (crimson jacket and golden necklet with cross) - is stereotypical clothes of Russian mobsters in post-soviet states in the mid 1990s.
- Roman has several tattoos. "Век живи, век учись"(Russian for Live and learn) and "Алтынного вора вешают, полтинного чествуют" which is another Russian equivalent of Sacrilegia minuta puniuntur, magna in triumphis feruntur (Latin for Minute sacrileges are punished, and great things are carried in triumphs).
- Most of his tattoos such as Russian cathedral on his back are strongly associated with Russian criminal world.
