Police Tactical Units (referred to in-game as SWAT, or Police) are a collection armed law enforcement organizations featured in Hitman: Codename 47 and Hitman: Contracts. It is a state governmental agency mainly responsible for acting as an specialised armed and combat ready wing of local law enforcements.

Description[]

The PTU featured in The Setup and Asylum Aftermath are the Romanian Detaşamentul Poliţiei pentru Intervenţie Rapidă (DPIR, Rapid Intervention Police Squad) . The DPIR utilise police cars and flood-light equipped vans. The teams consist of strike forces, snipers and a peripheral patrol. Strike forces and patrols are armed with either the AUG SMG or the SPAS 12, whereas the snipers are armed with Dragunov SVD's. The Squad leader is armed with an SG220.s. Strike forces are immune to knock-out from everything except the Syringe, and are heavily armoured.

It is possible that the armed commandos featured in Training Area are also part of the DPIR, due to the presumed location, and the fact they speak Romanian. They also use the same rifle, and have similar uniforms.

The PTU featured in Deadly Cargo is most likely the Unit Expertise en Operationele Ondersteuning (Expertise and Operational Support Unit) of the Dienst Speciale Interventies (Special Intervention Service). The Unit consists of a sniper, a helicopter and gunner, as well as several groups of Strike force officers. They also make use of several police vans, and have set up a command post in the upstairs of one of the warehouses. The sniper is armed with an R93, the helicopter gunner is equipped with an M60, and the Strike force operatives are armed with M4 Carbine's.

The PTU featured in Hunter and Hunted are the French Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale (GIGN; "National Gendarmerie Intervention Group"). The Unit consists of two snipers, several strike team groups, several groups of armed uniformed officers, standard officers, a strike commander and the GIGN Officer in Command, Albert Fournier. They also utilise several police cars and police vans. The snipers are armed with very powerful PGM Sniper rifles. The strike teams are armed with either the MP5 or the SPAS 12. Uniformed armed officers are solely equipped with the SPAS 12, whereas all other officers are equipped with a GK17 as standard.

History[]

Satu Mare Asylum Raid[]

A strike team of the Romanian DPIR arrive at Ortmeyer's asylum just as 47 is in the midst of performing a hit on Doctor Kovacs during the mission The Setup. 47 then has to deal with the DPIR raid directly in the mission Asylum Aftermath, where dozens of armed officers storm the Asylum. 47 can choose to directly engage the special forces, or find a way around him. As shown in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, the canonical escape sees 47 having a huge firefight with the strike force, eventually killing every officer there, along with the Asylum staff.

Rotterdam Harbor Incident[]

A prepared strike team of the Dutch DSI can be found in the middle of a planned raid on a ship in the Rotterdam Harbor, with the objective of catching the main target alive. Several strike teams are waiting on stand by for the go ahead. Once it is given, dozens of armed officers storm the ship, killing the armed terrorist henchmen onboard. A helicopter complete with gunner will also be deployed. 47 has to either engage or avoid the DSI whilst he tries to take out Arkadij Jegorov.

The Parisian Hotel Raid[]

A massive strike team of the French GIGN has just started a raid on a hotel in Paris, with the objective of terminating the legendary assassin, Agent 47. Lead by Albert Fournier, and an unnamed strike commander, the team attempt a direct assault on 47's last know location.

  • SWAT members are often equipped with heavy body armour, making them surprisingly resiliant against gunshots, and near invulnerable to being pistol whipped.
  • DPIR and GIGN teams have the ability to tell when each of their members have been killed, and whether or not their uniform is being worn by 47.
  • There was originally going to be a helicopter complete with gunner in Asylum Aftermath, but this was dropped during development.
  • There is a DPIR team in the Asylum attack, long before their initial raid starts. There was a special police officer who died on the second floor in Asylum Aftermath, possibly belonging to this team. And according to the scene, he fought with multiple patients and died together.
  • Training Area has a redesigned SWAT staff. Their use is unknown as they are not present elsewhere. According to their Romanian language, they may be a variant of the Romanian special police, or some kind of Romanian Legion.
