Sophia Washington (also known as "the Schemer") is a target in The Ark Society mission in HITMAN™ 2.
Background[]
The Washington twins are wealthy socialites and heirs to a vast 3rd generation fortune. Their grandfather, reverend Wendell Washington, established a mega church empire and their father, Byron Washington III, is President of the Pax Mundus Foundation: a hugely influential conservative think tank - widely regarded as the cradle of climate change denial.
In college, Sophia bullied a sorority rival to commit suicide, and her reputation was almost ruined (not helped by her sister's "drug scandal"), and like her sister, the late superstar lawyer Ken Morgan got her off the hook. In the wake of the scandal, the twins disappeared for a while to travel the world, seeking thrills and adventure. And after a chance encounter with world-famous treasure hunter Blake Nathaniel in the Congo, the twins developed a taste for fortune hunting.
Soon after, Zoe and Sophia hired a band of trigger-happy ex-CICADA mercenaries and began to prowl the world's most remote regions in search for ancient relics, with little regard for the indigenous populations. Several human rights organizations suspect the twins of annihilating an entire indigenous Amazon tribe, while searching for the lost city of Z, but the evidence was inconclusive.
Recently, the twins have focused much of their energy on leading the Ark Society, while they were entrusted after Janus' forced retirement. Intel recovered when Mr. Grey raided the Providence archive in New York indicates that the twins are not only ruthless but endlessly entitled - fully expecting to one day make Partners.
Curiously, they seem to have been appointed directly by the Providence Partners without Janus' or the current Constant's consent.Personality[]
Sophia is seemingly the more impulsive and emotional of the Washington twins, as seen if 47 sabotages her plan to discredit the Constant. Following her meeting, she will call Zoe and suggest they kill the Constant. If Zoe is still alive, she will talk Sophia out of it, with Sophia deferring to her judgement. Otherwise, Sophia will decide to activate the kill-switch, killing the Constant unless stopped by 47.
Sophia has a great interest in rare historical artifacts, specifically in stealing and amassing them. She employs an armed force of Raiders in order to seize them by any means. Sophia works closely with the Raiders, going on missions with them even at considerable risk to her own personal safety.
Dialogue between her sister and Blake Nathaniel reveals he betrayed Sophia during a recent adventure, presumably their joint search for the Cloud Serpent. According to Zoe, the experience led to Sophia "losing her taste for adventure", with Sophia having spent the last three months getting more involved with the Ark Society, rather than going on adventures.
If offered food at the bar (disguised as Castle Staff server) she will consider but reject it, stating that she works better on an empty stomach. In order to whet her appetite the player can impersonate her foe Jedediah Block and veto Sophia's climate initiative at the meeting. Somewhat counter-intuitively, it is frustration with Block's intransigence, rather than success at a successful vote for her proposal, that will compel her to eat. Serving poisoned food to her in this way will complete the "Working Up An Appetite" challenge.
Route and Behavior[]
Sophia roams the upper castle area, moving between the Architect's Lounge, her private office where she plans heists with her paramilitary Raiders, and the neighboring security office. She does not ordinarily move outside, though she may be taken to a nearby roof in the event of a target lockdown. She can be prompted to leave her routine by completing various mission stories. Disguising oneself as Blake Nathaniel and acquiring the Cloud Serpent will allow the player to speak to Sophia, resulting in a private meeting in her office.

Trivia[]
- Sophia is called Serena Washington in the game files and in her target profile seen in End of an Era. Her name was likely changed in development.
- Sophia's original bio referred to her as Serena before the first patch of Hitman 2 updated it to her final name.
- Her interest in archaeological artifacts seems to be based on their novelty or monetary value, or possibly the challenge of retrieving them, rather than any real appreciation of history, as she is willing to destroy irreplaceable historical sites to acquire them if necessary.
- Sophia's attitude towards Arthur Edwards is notably colder than her sister's. While both she and Zoe are elitist and class-conscious, Sophia seems to actively resent Edwards, who worked his way up from a lower social class rather than being born into high society, outranking her. This is what led her to try and discredit him in the eyes of the Partners.
- If held at gunpoint, Sophia uses the same dialogue as Zoe. She might suggest working together, or mock 47, claiming he isn't the first to think he had the better of her. However, she may also express concern for her sister, worrying about what happens to twins when one of them dies.
- If the player impersonates Jedediah Block, vetoes her proposal at the meeting, and meets with her at the top of the penthouse without eliminating her, Sophia will utter the words "Think about it, Block" when she encounters the player later, even if the player is wearing a different disguise.
- During her route, Sophia receives a phone call from someone telling her Amnesty International is searching for a man who witnessed the twins kill several tribesmen. After learning that he is hiding out in Sao Paulo, she will freak out and tell them to make the man disappear.
- Sophia and her sister, as high-class socialites with an interest in treasure hunting and exploration, may be a nod to Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series.
- Despite having been intimately involved with Blake Nathaniel, Agent 47 can convincingly impersonate him to her at close range, provided he obtains Nathaniel's disguise.
