Taheiji Koyama (also known as The Controller) is a target in HITMAN™. He appears in the mission of the same name and was one of The Sarajevo Six, a group of war criminals that were targeted by the International Contract Agency.

Unbeknownst to the ICA or the other members of the Sarajevo Six, Taheiji was the client for all six contracts, including the one placed on himself.

"Taheiji Koyama, known as "The Controller" is the final member of the 1990s Sigma team. His role on the team was as logistics and operations coordination, and his meticulous attention to every detail enabled Sigma operations to go off without a hitch in even the most chaotic of situations. Known as a man who always had a backup plan for when his primary plan failed, Koyama retired from CICADA in 1998.

He moved to a small estate in the mountains of the Nagano Prefecture. In recent years, he has dedicated himself to various philanthropic pursuits, including support for war-crimes victims across Asia.

A year ago, he was diagnosed with Elyen's Syndrome, an extremely rare genetic disorder, but chose not to seek medical treatment, although he could well afford it, choosing rather to continue to support various charities.

Approximately two weeks after the receipt of the Sigma contracts, he abruptly pulled all support from all of the charities he had formerly supported, and had himself moved to the Gama facility in Hokkaido, where the most advanced medical facilities in the world are fighting a losing battle against his degenerating health."

Betrayal of Former Colleagues

Following the war crimes committed by him and the rest of the Sigma mercenary unit, Taheiji was filled with remorse and shame over his actions, no longer considering himself a man. He used his fortune to support victims of war crimes until an old friend of his, who goes by the name of Locksley, informed him of the ICA. As the other five members of the Sarajevo Six were unable or unwilling to atone, he placed the six contracts and awaited the death of him and his former colleagues.

However, Taheiji soon fell ill after his former colleagues had been eliminated. Fearing that he would not receive the death he believed he deserved, he moved himself to the GAMA facility in Hokkaido to ensure not that he would live, but that he would survive long enough to see Agent 47 assassinate him. He also made arrangements to publicize his files in the event of his death, in order to expose CICADA and bring attention to the crimes he had committed.

If the player chooses to approach Taheiji during The Controller mission, he will confess all of this to 47.

Trivia

• If Taheiji is approached by the player and allowed to finish his speech, he will proceed to follow the player around the mission area, allowing you to take him to a more suitable location to eliminate him at.
  • Despite this, he can still be alerted by illegal actions, which will fail the mission if the player has not retrieved the Sigma Operation Files yet.
• In the mission briefing for The Director, his blood type is shown to be B+, while in the mission briefing for The Controller it is shown to be AB-, the reason for this change is unknown.
• He is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Taheji instead of Taheiji.
