Tamara Vidal is an ex-CIA asset, political firebrand, a Herald for Providence and Arthur Edwards' top aide who is a target that appears in The Farewell, the fifth and penultimate mission of HITMAN™ III.
Background[]
From an early age, Vidal displayed an elitist view of the world. An extreme meritocrat, she believed in the rule of competence. Those born with superior skills and intellect should lead, the rest should follow, and questioning this natural and global hierarchy only leads to chaos and decline.
Vidal never had any doubts as to which tier she belonged.
She studied geo-politics in the US and spent some time at the Sherman Kent School for Intelligence Analysis, where her instructor called her the most gifted surveillance specialist of her generation. After graduation, Vidal disappeared into the murky underbelly of CIA black ops and for the next decade, little intel exists. However, in a major 2012 data leak by a Langley whistleblower, Vidal's name surfaced as the leader of a CIA interrogation black site located on an abandoned Hamsun Oil rig--reportedly a testing ground for new types of chemical interrogation, strictly outlawed by the Geneva Convention.
In the early 2010s Vidal resurfaced in her native Argentina as the founder of a political party known as "Future Federation"; a characteristically elitist--some say crypto-fascist--movement promoting a bold brand of meritocratic corporatocracy with a dash of transhumanism. The party quickly won a huge national following, creating shocked and astonished headlines across the world.
This is when Vidal caught the eye of Arthur Edwards (the Constant). Vidal's political vision was very much in line with his own, and he immediately recruited her for Providence. With Vidal's resignation, Future Federation lost its momentum and was soon resigned to the ash heap of history, much to the relief of the liberal mainstream. Little did they know that Vidal's vision for the future now flourished within the world's most influential power-cabal.
Vidal joined the "Heralds"; a small corps of field handlers who carry out Providence's plans on the ground. Heralds are typically recruited among analysts, corporate fixers, lobbyists, and political advisors and Vidal quickly rose to become Edwards' favourite. She was assigned the South American region, becoming a key player and hidden hand in some of the biggest upsets and victories on the continent. She fueled the wars between major drug cartels, such as the Providence-controlled Moreno Cartel and the Delgado Cartel in Colombia. She back-channels promising politicians to places of influence and stokes the fires of conflict in the region to divert attention away from Providence activities. She is a true believer in Providence which is, in many ways, a living embodiment of her meritocratic ideals.
Following the deaths of the Partners and Arthur Edwards' ascent to power, Vidal secretly hoped that she would be the next Constant, only to see that honour go to top Providence operative Don Yates of the law firm Morgan, Yates & Kohn--a man whom Vidal considers an opportunistic crony who doesn't embody the true cause.
Still, Vidal trusts Edwards unconditionally and has agreed to escort the curious new addition to the Herald corps, former ICA handler Diana Burnwood, to celebrate Yates at his retirement party. Presumably, Edwards considers Diana a valuable asset, but trust must be earned, and until he is certain about her true motives and allegiances, he has asked Vidal to be his eyes and ears.
Vidal is highly observant and will be watching events closely. In order to successfully extract Diana, she must be taken out.Personality[]
Tamara Vidal is an asset of a Central Intelligence Agency and is considered to be the Constant's most trusted aide. During the party in The Farewell, she has eyes on Diana Burnwood, and will suspect if something goes wrong along the way. She is very observant, in a way that she is quick to suspect that Tobias Rieper is 47's alias. She will occasionally check in with a guard in the security office, who is unable to find much information on him.
If 47 talks to Diana three times as his alias, Tamara will eventually lead him downwards to the winery's cinema to have a private word. This turns out to be a trap, as she will be accompanied by five bodyguards and deduce his identity. She will not compromise the player as a conscious witness, despite having already seen through his identity. The security forces will attack 47 after Tamara makes her revelation.
Ironically, if Tamara is left alive to sit in on the meeting of Heralds, she derides Don Yates as a disloyal "opportunist" for contradicting Edwards' wishes to give the Constant role to Diana. Don has Tamara shot dead by one of the guards in the room, while still insisting on detaining Diana alive for at least a few minutes. Don then tells to the rest of the Heralds that from this day on, they are to claim that Tamara was killed by 47 when she saw through his disguise.
In one of her conversations with Diana in the Asado floor, Tamara will be talking about previous targets to Diana, even if they're not from the World of Assassination trilogy. These include Alvaro D'Alvade, Blake Dexter, Richard Ekwensi, Rico Delgado, Wazir Kale, the HAVEN trio and all Providence members assassinated during the game (minus herself, Don Yates and The Constant).

Trivia[]
- Despite being suspicious of Agent 47's behavior, she cannot directly see through any of his disguises like an Enforcer would.
- Tamara is one of only four targets who can be eliminated by another target, the other two being Ken Morgan, Noel Crest and Vitaly Reznikov. Although in this case Don Yates does not personally murder Tamara, instead ordering one of his head of security to do so.
- Strangly, while listed off all Providence members Diana and 47 assassinated, she mentions the three owners of HAVEN (Tyson Williams, Steven Bradley and Ljudmila Vetrova), despite the fact they did not work for Providence and just helped the Partners change their identity.
