The Ark Society is the sixth mission in HITMAN™ 2. Having finally tracked down the Constant by following Janus' coffin, Agent 47 comes ashore on the ancient and mysterious Isle of Sgàil, base of the annual Ark Society gatherings, where the world's wealthiest plan for how they can survive the end of the world, in order to aid Lucas Grey in kidnapping the Constant. However, before 47 can do this, he must eliminate twins Zoe and Sophia Washington, new chairwomen of the Ark Society, who have been given kill switches by the Partners that will immediately trigger a poisonous chip self-injected into the Constant's neck, in case he is compromised.

The Ark Society[]
Diana (VO): "Not that simple. The device is remote-triggered. And during his stay on the island, two "kill switches" have been entrusted to twin sisters Zoe and Sophia Washington; two young ambitious Providence operatives and newly appointed chairwomen of the Ark Society. Apparently, even the Constant is unaware of this arrangement."
Grey (VO): "Right. Change of plans. We divide and conquer. 47 takes out the Washingtons, while I figure out a way to get the Constant off the island. It'll be tight, but once we're back at the ship, we should be able to surgically remove the chip before the Partners have time to react. 47?"
Agent 47 (VO): "Tell me about the targets."
Grey (VO): "I know them from the archive. Zoe and Sophia's father is President of a powerful conservative think tank. One of Providence's prime assets. The apples don't fall far from the tree."
Diana (VO): "No saints either. According to ICA files, the twins are pampered socialites, who get their kicks from treasure hunting. Commanding a band of trigger-happy mercenaries, Zoe and Sophia prowl the world in search for ancient relics. With little regard for local culture - or even human life - they stop at nothing to claim their prize. Well. Collateral damage they may be, but safe to say they have it coming."
MISSION ACTIVE
Description[]
After weeks of preperation, Agent 47, Diana Burnwood and Lucas Grey travel to the Isle of Sgàil to execute their plan to capture The Constant. The ancient castle island is the location of a gathering of the Ark Society, a group of ultra-wealthy elites preparing for global collapse. The Society is overseen by twin sisters Zoe and Sophia Washington, treasure hunters and Providence operatives.
As the group heads toward the island, an informant of Grey's delivers some dire news. The Constant has injected himself with a poison chip, which can be activated remotely by kill-switches held by the Washington sisters. Should the Constant be compromised, the chip will kill him instantly.
In order to aid Grey in extracting the Constant from the island and removing the chip safely, 47 must infiltrate the gathering, eliminate the Washington sisters, and secure the kill-switches. Once complete, 47 can choose to leave the mission and let Grey continue with his extraction, or he can use the kill-switches to persuade the Constant to leave with him.

Constant's Intel |
---|
"A scholarship application form for the London School of Economics and Political Science, 1976. The applicant’s name: Arthur Edwards. This could very well be the real identity of the Constant. Looks like he’s truly worked his way to the top." |
Conversation About Ark Society Structure |
---|
"According to two of its members, the Ark Society is structured like most other corporate organizations. Chairwomen Zoe and Sophia Washington run the organization. They employ an R&D team of scientists and engineers called "Architects", who develop the various projects. A Council, consisting of the Ark Society's original five members, handle the Ark Society's finances and decides which projects to greenlight. The majority of Arkians are divided into two groups; Ark Patrons are clients, who purchase Ark Society products but have no influence; while Ark Members are VIP investors and influencers." |
Conversation About Iron Maiden |
---|
"Janus was a collector of vintage torture instruments. The Washington twins scrapped most of his paraphernalia when they took his office in the tower, but apparently, they have taken a liking to a medieval iron maiden." |
Council Contract |
---|
"An official-looking contract. The Ark Society’s high council; the "original five" Ark Members, is voting on a proposal by Sophia Washington. She recommends that the council members, who are all energy company CEOs, stop fighting the global climate agenda and transition to green energy. This is the only way they will maintain their current marked position and remain wealthy and powerful. The contract emphasizes that the council must be unanimous in order for the vote to pass." |
Dagger Acquisition Note |
---|
"A special acquisition order, signed by chairwoman Zoe Washington, to retrieve one of the relics stored in the Ark of Legacy; a priceless dagger which belonged to Tsar Nicholas. Apparently, Janus donated it to the Ark Society’s collection of priceless historical artifacts, but his last will and testament decrees that he wears it for his wake." |
ECT Device Safety Report |
---|
"A safety report on a vintage electro-convulsive therapy device belonging to the Washington twins. Apparently, the apparatus needs maintenance and risks short-circuiting on high voltage settings. The technician behind the report advises Zoe Washington not to use it for “interview purposes” until the device has been more thoroughly tested." |
Effigy Design Drawings |
---|
"A design sketch for the giant phoenix effigy in the court yard. Apparently, the effigy is placed on top of a person size cage, which features a hidden hydraulic door at the rear. This is how Zoe Washington plans to escape the burning structure during tonight’s ceremony." |
Effigy Memo from Zoe |
---|
"A memo from Zoe Washington to Ark Member Axel Phenniger, also called the "Master of Ceremonies". Zoe has planned an extravagant ceremony to symbolise the downfall of civilization, from which the Ark Society will emerge unscathed. A giant phoenix-shaped effigy is set on fire in the courtyard with Zoe inside it and the "Master" is tasked to light the torch. Zoe plans to escape via a hidden door before the whole structure is engulfed in flames." |
Electro-Convulsive Therapy Device |
---|
"Zoe Washington plans to employ an ECT device in this year's Initiation interview. She seems to have few qualms torturing her wealthy peers." |
Entertainer's Invite |
---|
"An invite for tonight's entertainers, conveying the many rules and regulations of the Ark Society. Performers - even international celebrities - are required to wear a blindfold at all times during their visit to the island, and to sign a legal NDA, strictly prohibiting them from speaking about anything they see, hear or experience." |
Funeral Attendee's Phone Call |
---|
"According to one of the Ark members, Janus' wake will begin once his body is brought up from the basement keep. The service will open with a Schubert's piece, Zoe Washington will deliver a short eulogy and then guests are invited to pay their last respects." |
Grey's Informant |
---|
"Lucas Grey's informant on the island is a former colleague from CICADA, who is now one of the Washington twins' mercenaries. Apparently, the informant owes Grey a debt, which he now considers repaid." |
Hydraulic Door Safety Report |
---|
"The cage beneath the giant effigy in the courtyard features a hidden escape door. But according to this safety report, the hydraulic locking mechanism is disturbingly sensitive. Even a slight drop in pressure could jam the lock and effectively trap the occupant inside the cage." |
Initiation Commerative Tokens |
---|
"Apparently some of the Senior Arkians hold Commemorative Tokens." |
Iron Key |
---|
"Mysterious old castle key." |
Janus' Journal |
---|
"One of Janus’ private journals from 1991 in which he muses over his reasons for founding the Ark Society. As a KGB spymaster during the height of the cold war, Janus had seen first-hand how close humanity came to oblivion and it didn’t take much effort to convince the Providence Partners that a global collapse was not only likely, but inevitable. The Partners, who protect their families’ privilege above all, agreed to fund the Stronghold bunker initiative, realizing that the Ark Society would not only be a sensible insurance policy, but also a lucrative business – not to mention an excellent recruiting platform. However, Janus’ notes indicate that his reasons were not only about survival and profit, but that he genuinely yearned to leave a positive fingerprint on humanity’s future." |
Janus' Wake |
---|
"An antique ceremonial dagger, which Janus is supposed to wear during the service, has gone missing from storage. The wake will not commence before the dagger is recovered." |
Jebediah Block's Dilemma |
---|
"Jebediah Block, CEO of the Terrestrial Coal Company, is a member of the Ark Society council. Apparently, Sophia Washington has put forth a proposal to which Block is the sole voice of opposition and Sophia has called a recess to let Block come to his senses. But the choleric Block is not giving up without a fight." |
Kill Switch Detonator |
---|
"A remote detonator for the poison chip imbedded in the Constant's neck. Do not push." |
Laptop |
---|
"According to information from the Constant's laptop, he has been investigating ways to block the signal to the poison chip in his neck. Clearly, the Providence controller resents this humiliating loss of control." |
List of Donations |
---|
"A list of this year’s donations to the Ark of Legacy. Priceless works of art and historical artifacts, including a legendary Aztec necklace known as the “The Cloud Serpent”. The necklace was donated by famous treasure hunter Blake Nathaniel, Sophia Washington’s biggest rival and former lover, who runs the Ark of Legacy program. Apparently, Sophia has filed a complaint, questioning the authenticity of the necklace - which has only prompted Blake to increase security around the Cloud Serpent." |
Master of Ceremonies' Schedule |
---|
"A moment-to-moment schedule for the effigy ceremony. The Master of Ceremonies appears on stage. He descends to the money pit. Ha makes a short statement and lights the money on fire. The Master summons Zoe Washington on the stage. Zoe makes a speech, whereupon she enters the cage beneath the effigy. The Master takes the stage and lights the effigy on fire. Zoe slips out the back door before the structure is engulfed in flame. The Master's script is noted in the margin as well." |
Membership Booklet |
---|
"A small booklet introducing new Ark Patrons to the Ark Society. The first section details the organizational structure. Ark Patrons, Ark Members, Architects and Council. The second section is a product catalogue describing the various Ark Society's services on sale, including the popular Stronghold bunker system, an arctic city project and new R&D initiatives such as 'whole brain emulation' and colonization of Saturn's moon Titan. The final section outlines tonight's events, including a "phoenix ceremony" in the courtyard and the wake of Janus, the Ark Society's founder." |
Mortician Conversation |
---|
"The mortician is preparing Janus' body for the wake. Apparently, the first Constant and founder of the Ark Society will be wearing a funeral mask, making him virtually unrecognizable. However, the ceremony is on hold due to a missing dagger." |
Office Keycard |
---|
"Keycard for the office." |
Penthouse Keycard |
---|
"Keycard for the Penthouse." |
Photo of Sophia and Blake |
---|
"A photo of Sophia Washington and Blake Nathaniel in the field, no doubt hunting for treasure. They look rather in love." |
Photograph of Janus and the Constant |
---|
"A framed photograph of Janus and his protégé, the new Constant. The recent date indicates that Janus remained chairman of the Ark Society long after he retired from the role as Providence’s top controller." |
Poison Chip Blueprint |
---|
"A design blueprint for a poison chip created by one Marek Sinclair, chief technical designer at Kronstadt Industries. A next generation suicide pill, the chip is remote-triggered, and satellite-tracked, effectively removing “human weakness” from the equation. No doubt, this is the chip imbedded in the Constant’s neck." |
Priceless Dagger |
---|
"A funeral dagger of Russian Origin, carrying the sigil of the Romanoff family. Might be a ceremonial prop for Janus' wake." |
Safe Combination Code |
---|
"Code to access the safe in the Constant's library." |
Sophia's Email |
---|
"An email thread between Sophia Washington and her sister Zoe. Apparently, Sophia has recruited one of the Architects in a devious plan to discredit the Constant; an engineer by the name of Sinclair, who designed the poison chip in the Constant's neck. According to the email, Sophia has asked Sinclair to approach the Constant and offer to remove the chip. If the Constant takes the bait, Sophia can then prove to the Providence Partners that their controller is not to be trusted. She also notes that Sinclair was reluctant to participate in the deception and may need additional coaxing." |
Sophia's Newspaper Clipping |
---|
"A newspaper article about Blake Nathaniel and the Washington twins back when they were treasure hunting allies and Blake and Sophia were an item. It recounts the trio’s adventure to recover the legendary Japanese sword Kusanagi and mentions that their next prize is a lost Aztec necklace known as the Cloud Serpent." |
Sophia's Scheme |
---|
"Sophia Washington has engaged a designer from Kronstadt Industries in some kind of plot, involving one of his inventions; a so called “kill switch". This certainly sounds like a reference to the poison chip embedded in the Constant’s neck. If so, Sophia may be plotting against her own employers." |
The Aztec Necklace |
---|
"The Ark Society collects priceless art and historical artifacts in case of a global disaster, and this year, world-famous treasure hunter Blake Nathaniel has donated an Aztec necklace, the "Cloud Serpent", to the Ark Society's growing collection. However, Blake fears that Sophia Washington - his former lover and rival, who has hunted the Cloud Serpent for years - will attempt to steal it for herself before it goes into storage." |
The Constant's Poison Chip Research |
---|
"According to information on the Constant's laptop, he has been investigating ways to block the signal to the poison chip in his neck. Clearly, the Providence controller resents this humiliating loss of control." |
The Council Meeting |
---|
"Sophia Washington has called a meeting with the Ark Society Council. She intends to pass some sort of motion, but faces stark opposition from ultra-conservative coal baron, Jebediah Block. The Council is currently in recess." |
The Initiation |
---|
"Each year, aspiring Ark Patrons compete in a treasure hunt to obtain Membership status. The first of these "Initiates" to collect enough tokens, undergoes a private screening interview with Zoe Washington which involves a polygraph and electro-shock device." |
The Phoenix Effigy |
---|
"Zoe Washington is going to partake in a ceremony, symbolizing the downfall of civilization from which the Ark Society will emerge unscathed. Apparently, a giant phoenix-shaped effigy is set on fire by the so called "Master of Ceremonies"... with Zoe inside it." |
The Poison Chip Designer's Phone Number |
---|
"Olivia has uncovered the cell phone number of the poison chip's designer, Marek Sinclair. Diana will keep calling him until you have a positive ID." |
Tower Key |
---|
"Key for the tower." |
Traditional Drink |
---|
"The drink known as a "Dragon Flame" - containing raw eggs, hot sauce, celery, angostura and a particularly rare bottle of cognac which allegedly belonged to Cardinal Richelieu - is apparently a staple at Ark Society gatherings." |
Wake Schedule |
---|
"A schedule for Janus’ wake, which will take place in one of the court yards. According to the schedule, the wake will begin with a musical rendition of Schubert’s Ave Maria. Zoe Washington will then take the stage and make her eulogy and afterwards, the guests can pay their last respects. Janus’ body is kept in a makeshift morgue, in the cellar keep, where a mortician is adding the final touches of makeup." |
Warehouse Key |
---|
"A key. Grants access to the warehouse." |

Escalation Contracts[]
There are currently six escalation contracts available on the Isle of Sgàil:
Elusive Targets[]
This is a list of Elusive Targets that appeared on the Isle of Sgàil, with reactivations occuring during HITMAN™ 2 & HITMAN™ III.
Target Lockdown[]
Zoe Washington will be taken to the room with the staircase next to the kitchen or the room near the helicopter pad that has the janitors inspecting the artifacts.
Sophia Washington will be taken to the raiders' room in the architect's lounge.
The Constant (Arthur Edwards), though not a target, is a V.I.P and thus also has a lockdown protocol. He will normally be taken to his office in the tower, though if the threat is high enough, he will be evacuated from the map by way of the helicopter. This will not cause the mission to fail, however, as Lucas Grey will assure 47 that he will deal with the Constant himself. After that, if the Washington twins haven't been eliminated yet, Diana Burnwood will indicate that 47 only has 5 minutes before they activate the kill switch, causing the mission to fail (successfully eliminating them before the timer runs out will complete The Final Countdown challenge)
Trivia[]
- If everyone (other than the Constant and 47) on the map are dead, knights with guns will spawn on the knight plinths. They have high health and cannot be knocked out with melee.
- This is the first main-line mission in the World of Assassination trilogy to have a V.I.P. (Arthur Edwards) and is only one of two in said trilogy.
- This is the second main-line mission in the World of Assassination trilogy to have a future target present on the map, after The Showstopper had Andrea Martínez present in the IAGO auction.
- The mission story It Belongs In A Museum and the challenge Raider Of The Lost Ark are both references to the Indiana Jones movies.
