"What? You're kidding me!...Wait, are you sure? It's not prostate cancer? I could kiss you! I mean, that's great news...!"
Cancer Guy relieved and excited to hear he doesn't have prostate cancer.

The Cancer Guy (also known as CG, real name: Marshall Huxley) is a minor character that is shown in Hitman: Absolution. He appears in the mission "A Personal Contract" during the third segment "Cliffside". He also poses as an optional target in the mission as well.

Overview[]

While Agent 47 advances towards the cliff-side window entrance of Diana Burnwood's mansion after a brief conversation with Benjamin Travis, 47 can overhear a phone call with the CG and his doctor discussing the outcome of his situation. As it turns out he fortunately doesn't have prostate cancer and is perfectly fine. He thanks the doctor and ends the call. He makes his final thoughts known, which is that "nothing can ruin this day." Afterwards he walks to the side and smokes but is given criticism from his colleague Gary Marshall.

Behind the Scenes[]

The Cancer Guy has his own chapter and sets of pages in Full Disclosure, specifically the "Living Breathing World" chapter. His page is a brief explanation on his character and discussed how they tried to make different dialogue for other minor characters to try and re-create the powerful element however they failed.

In an earlier 2010-2011 Alpha build (also shown in Full Disclosure) the dialogue of the Cancer Guy was originally for a different minor character, that character being Nicholas Fairley in the mission "Dexter Industries". Thankfully as development progressed and many features/content were either cut or reworked the Cancer Guy was switched from one of Blake Dexter's mining guards to one of Diana Burnwood's bodyguards. As for the phone dialogue it was removed in favor of a generic plot point dialogue that isn't powerful or meaningful. Interestingly, in the leaked PS3 Aug 3, 2012 prototype of Absolution, an entire scrapped set of dialogue exists with the Cancer guy. That being as he goes to smoke, before doing so he'll cheer in excitement however his nearby colleague tells him to stay quiet as he's on duty. This dialogue was completely removed in favor of the colleague insulting CG for smoking.

When a portion of the mission "A Personal Contract" was dropped from the Contracts Mode, many minor characters' names remained hidden. Only "Mansion 2nd Floor" and a tutorial version of "Gardens" remained. Except for Manuel Francis, who got his own custom name for the tutorial of the mode. However, character's like his remained unknown. Thankfully, in the game-files it appears IO-Interactive did have a name planned for him. That being his original name was intended to be "Marshall Huxley". Its unknown if his unused Contracts Mode name is canon or not.

In the August, 2012 leaked PS3 prototype build an extended dialogue of Marshall was completely cut from the final game. This included him replying to Gary's criticism (if the player doesn't toss him out the window) claiming he didn't care, life was beautiful and 'Cape Diem'. He even cheered and through his arms in the air to celebrate but Gary continues to reprimand Marshall. From their the dialogue ends. It remains widely unknown why this exchange of dialogue was cut from the final game.

Trivia[]

  • The Cancer Guy can be classified as an optional target and can be killed. As the segment completely disables the point system. This means its up to the player whether or not he lives or dies.
