The Icon is the first of two summer bonus missions included in the World of Assassination trilogy. Five months prior to eliminating Abiatti in August 2017, Agent 47 is tasked with eliminating Actor/Director Dino Bosco in March 2017.
Diana Burnwood (VO): "Good morning, 47. Your destination is the Italian coastal town of Sapienza, where our client, L'Avventura Pictures, is shooting a superhero-epic based on the cult graphic novel The Icon.
Your target is Dino Bosco, the film's director and leading man. A washed-up character actor, Bosco sees The Icon as his big comeback. Unfortunately, his rampant perfectionism and complete disregard for the budget has left L'Avventura on the verge of bankruptcy. Still, he doggedly refuses to wrap the production.
L'Avventura cannot fire Bosco without violating their contract. That is why they have asked us to retire him before the whole studio goes belly-up.
Agent 47 has travelled to Sapienza, which has been transformed into a movie set for the shooting for the upcoming superhero movie, The Icon.
The movie's director and lead actor is Dino Bosco, a washed up actor hoping The Icon will reinvigorate his career. However, Bosco's constant reshoots and drive for perfection have pushed the film behind schedule and over budget, and the studio behind it, L'Avventura Pictures is on the verge of going bankrupt.
Unable to fire Bosco due to their contract with him, the company has contracted 47 to eliminate Bosco.
Mission Stories[]
Light My Fire
Bosco wants more flames. Let's not disappoint the director. According to the special effects crew, Dino Bosco demands bigger, more lavish flames. I believe we should give him what he wants.
Something to Chew On
Those teeth sound sharp. Maybe Icon is destructible after all. With a little tampering, the prop teeth can be made lethal. And Dino Bosco does his own stunts. Always good to see an actor willing to die for his art.
An Explosive Ending
Special effects is a dangerous business if handled incorrectly, especially pyrotechnics. According to the special effects crew, the final scene involves a remotely triggered explosion, and the charges have already been set. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
Time to Meet the Fans
Surrounded by all his adoring fans, Bosco may expose a weakness in his personality... and armor. A Q&A session? This could get complicated. A lot of witnesses around. Then again, I'm sure that a distraction of sorts could create a perfect set-up.

A code to manually override the automatic explosions set up on the set. A computer could be very useful now.
High Octane Fuel
The following information may contain spoilers.
This high octane fuel could be highly unstable. Be careful when handling it, but maybe it could be used for some kind of grand finale. A perfect end to the third act, so to speak.

A remote control. It seems it can activate something, maybe some kind of prop or special effect.

According to the Bosco's agent, a Q&A is ready to take place. I presume an event like this will always have some sort of refreshments prepared for our star.

Unstable Fuel

On April 19-20, 2025, a leaked prototype alpha build titled 'Hitman: Silent War' surfaced online and is being researched by various modders and the Hitman forums[1]. According to the leaked build the Icon was much different in December 2014 - January 2015. That being that the entire town of Sapienza was originally a set for the fictional Icon film being made with only the Sapienza Ruins, Sapienza Yacht & Villa Caruso being off-limits. Originally a rail-track leading down to the courtyard & Sapienza Church of Sapienza were present with various unused props such as a wooden building, a faux apartment building set, various lighting, film objects & a Pegasus N26LM chopper. Interestingly, NPCs were found in the area doing various tasks but had no unique voice lines. The rail track in the leak is bugged to where if you look in a specific direction it disappears entirely for unknown reasons.
In the summer 2015 prototype IO-Interactive realized they had little to no idea what to do with the alternate location and scrapped it. In the final release of HITMAN™ the courtyard, beach-side & church are blocked off.
According to the HITMAN™ Reddit's FAQ, the summer bonus missions (The Icon, along with A House Built on Sand) are not part of the main story arc, though they may still be part of the canon.[2]
The mission occupies only 6 of the 8 floors of the level, in comparison to World of Tomorrow, where there is access on all 8 floors of the map.
When wearing a suit, the only Hostile Area part of the map during the mission is inside Dino Bosco's camper van.
In a dialogue between actress Monia Bellini and Marco Abiatti in the summer mission Landslide, it is mentioned the death of Dino Bosco in Sapienza a few years ago, which makes The Icon the very first mission played in Sapienza, before Landslide and World of Tomorrow.
Audio files can be found in the files for an unused mission story, related to a prototype figurine the film El Brute[3].
In the mission, background character Luisa Doria can be found in the background away from the filming and sitting alone by herself though will rarely smoke. She uses a unique sitting animation too and has no major or minor purpose in the mission whatsoever.
