The Lust Assignation is an Escalation Contract in the Apex Predator mission, released as Act 4 of the Seven Deadly Sins premium content of HITMAN™ III to start the "Season of Lust" on July 27th, 2021.

Agent 47 awakens once again, this time on the dance floor of a more old-fashioned Club Hölle, summoned by Lust to help her identify which amongst her guests is her Secret Admirer, and which of them are mere Pretenders, by locating and utilising various clues about the Admirer's appearance and traits that are locked away in safes scattered around the club.

Acquisition[]

  • Apex Predator - Unlocked by owning the World of Assassination Deluxe Edition, or by purchasing the World of Assassination Deluxe Pack, the Seven Deadly Sins Collection or Seven Deadly Sins Act 4: Lust.

Well, at least you know your way around a dance floor. I'm a pale imitation of your last partner, I know, but we could still be friends, right? Humans need others, don't you think? Even you."

Walkthrough[]

The following information may contain spoilers.

The mission begins with you seated by the refurbished dance floor, with Lust de-briefing you: the main portion of this Escalation Contract is acquiring 6 love letters found in 6 safes scattered around the map (and handily marked on it with a question mark), then using the intel from the clues gathered from the letters to identify the "secret admirer" out of the 8 people besides Lust and yourself on the Dance Floor and give them Lust's Bouquet. While you can gather all six for total confirmation, you only need to get three clues before you can have a guess at who the Secret Admirer is. You also have an optional objective of eliminating all seven "Pretenders", i.e. the other people on the Dance Floor that aren't the Secret Admirer, but you must be careful not to eliminate the Secret Admirer as you will immediately fail the mission, even if you have already given them Lust's bouquet. Each Pretender drops a useful item when pacified or eliminated, but most of these are easy to find aroud the map anyway (such as a staff area key, which you can find in the basement toilets in the stall with a club crew member mopping inside). The only really useful item is the silenced Hackl 9S Covert pistol carried by the female guest wearing a fur coat but not wearing a hat. It is recommended to obtain this item if you want to eliminate the Pretenders, so the easiest way of isolating her to knock her out is to close the door to the Basement Bar underneath the main stairs, then throwing the fire extinguisher on the wall to lure her behind the wall when she's standing by it. Once there, kill her, as you won't be able to acquire a Silent Assassin rating if she happens to be the Secret Admirer, so you might as well find out straight away, then take the pistol and continue with the mission.

Placed around the map are pedestals that have either a safe key, The Serpent's Tongue or The Serpent's Bite on them. The safe keys are used to open the safes, with one consumed every time you unlock a safe with them. There will be at least one key located near to all 12 of the spots that the 6 safes can potentially spawn on, but if you don't have one on hand, you can also open safes from a distance using explosives, in the form of either propane flasks or fire extinguishers placed where they normally are on the map, or by using The Serpent's Bite, a remote explosive with about as much power and range as a CX demo block, but be careful picking it up, as it is an illegal item for civilians. The third item, The Serpent's Tongue, is a blinding dart gun: if you shoot someone with it, they will be blind for a few seconds and won't react to or notice your prescence, which is very handy for when you want to circumvent someone or overcome crowds of people that won't move away from a safe, but you only get 2 darts every time you pick one up, so you will need to be rather conservative with your ammo. Of course, it is also possible to avoid having to use the dart gun by luring away and pacifying people in case you run out of ammo. The locations of the safes, safe keys, The Serpent's Bites and The Serpent's Tongues are (from top to bottom):

Once you have enough clues, return to the Dance Floor and pick up Lust's Bouquet. Consult your intel in the intel menu: the six clues provide different types of information: the first reveals whether the Secret Admirer smokes or not, the second whether or not they dance with a partner or just stand and watch, the third reveals the type of drink they have, the fourth reveals their gender, the fifth reveals, for men, whether or not they have beards or are close-shaven, whilst for women it shows if they are wearing fur or not, and the sixth and final clue is a unique description that only pertains to one of the eight guests on the Dance Floor. By observing the guests, you will eventually notice them having drinks, dancing or observing dances and, if they do so, smoke. You can also consult the table below for a list of each potential admirer's set of clues, which will work with only three clues as well (except for two guests, as described below). Bestow the bouquet to the potential admirer, and Lust will quickly determine whether or not you are correct. A wrong guess will fail the mission and force you to start all over again, and success will allow you to exfiltrate via the same chair you started the mission on.

As for the optional objective, as mentioned earlier, you should hold back on touching any of the Pretenders until your choice of the Secret Admirer is confirmed to be the right one by Lust, except for the guest carrying the silenced pistol. Once you select the right choice, the Pretenders will gather in front of Lust and the Secret Admirer and applaud them, which is the right time to pacify the admirer (as they still count as a witness to you murdering the Pretenders), then whip out your pistol and try to shoot the six remaining Pretenders before any of them run away and alert someone. While you can go for a sneakier option, this takes a long time and is rather ineffective against the pretenders that stand in the centre of the Dance Floor and can only be lured away by poisoning their drink, which is a suspicious act in your suit, so you will most likely be caught by the Secret Admirer, losing your Silent Assassin rating. You may want to close the door to the basement toilet before your massacre, to ensure people don't hear anything and potentially investigate from outside. Another good way of taking people out before they can run too far is to throw as many items as quickly as possible to everyone, but in either case, pistol and thrown weapons, be aware of your surroundings and look out for people running in opposite directions.

Pretenders and Clues[]

See also Pretenders.

The following table lists each of the 8 potential Secret Admirers and the clues that identify them. Note that the sixth and final clue is unique for every guest, meaning it is possible to identify the Secret Admirer using only that clue. However, it is also possible to differentiate between almost all of the guests with only the first 3 clues, except for guests C and G that neither smoke nor dance and both drink whiskey, meaning that if the game selects either of them you will need to either find a fourth clue to learn what gender they are and conclusively determine the Secret Admirer, or you will need to take a 50/50 gamble in order to complete the "Ratiocination" challenge.

Trivia[]

  • Lust normally does not react to any suspicious or illegal actions and does not become a witness. However, by shooting her with The Serpent's Tongue, or by firing a weapon directly in front of her (even one with no ammo in it), she will be alerted and act like a standard NPC. In most circumstances you cannot interact with her, melee attack her, throw weapons at her or kill her with explosions, bullets, etc. However, you can push or pull her off ledges when the prompt appears; this will cause a strange effect of her appearing to be unconscious or dead, but still being technically alive and conscious, meaning she still has collision and you cannot drag her body. You can also electrocute her when she walks over an electrifed puddle, but she will just keep looping the electrocution animation endlessly, even after all of the sound effects and voice lines have ended, and even when the puddle is no longer dangerous. This, obviously, softlocks the game, in the same way that knocking out the Secret Admirer or being compromised by them means that you cannot give them Lust's Bouquet to finish the mission.
  • This Escalation Contract has had a long-running bug on Xbox versions of the game where often-times you cannot pick up safe keys and are forced to either use explosives or restart the mission over and over in order to be given the prompt to pick the keys up.
  • The Escalation Contract is named "Ambrosia" in the game's files. The ambrosia genus, also known as ragweed, is named after the form of sustenance that the Greek gods consumed. In Homer's Iliad, Hera used ambrosia to "[cleanse] all defilement from her lovely flesh", and with ambrosia Athena prepared Penelope in her sleep, so that when she appeared for the final time before her suitors, the effects of years had been stripped away, and they were inflamed with passion at the sight of her. Ambrosia was also the name of a follower of Dionysus, the god of, among other things, wine-making, vegetation, fertility, festivity, insanity, ritual madness and theatre, themes all explored in one form or another in the transformation of the Dance Floor and the bizarre nature and actions of Lust and her guests.
  • The background music is the one used on the Isle of Sgàil.
