The Yardbirds were an international gang of thieves that appeared in HITMAN™, HITMAN™ 2: Sniper Assassin, and HITMAN™ 2.
History[]
Background[]
The Yardbirds first emerged in the early 80s, founded by the Serbian Aleksander Kovak, consisting of four other members: Barbadian natural cat burglar Kalvin Ritter, former military engineer Dorian Lang, Interpol dirty officer Guillaume Maison and former Hollywood stuntwoman Doris Lee. For a long time, they had many successful heists, building a reputation for themselves as masterful thieves. However, during a heist on the Shamal Casino in Las Vegas, it turned out the money they stole was the property of organized criminals, resulting in a campaign of violence and retaliation. Even though Maison successfully pinned the heist on another group of thieves and personally conducted a raid, killing all of them, they knew that the organized criminals will not stop until they found the money. The five members hid away the money, disbanded the group and agreed to open the coffer when the dust is settled.
After the group disbanded, Dorian Lang and Guillaume Maison retired, Lang went to live in London while Maison purchased a chateau in Himmelstein, Austria to live there. Kalvin Ritter and Doris Lee continued their career as thieves, but eventually decided to retire in the late 90s. However, while Doris Lee retired to the Swiss Alps, Kalvin Ritter was killed by the ICA in Sydney, Australia, on his own yacht, the Night Thief, due to a client of him realising that Ritter had sold him a fake Gorka painting, therefore ending his dream of retirement and getting his hand on the casino loot. It's unknown what happened to Aleksander Kovak, but it's likely that he retired and went into hiding.
The Last Yardbird[]
About 30 years after The Yardbirds disbanded, Maison began to think about finally open the coffer. He organized a wedding ceremony for Elizabeth Lang, Dorian Lang's daughter in his mansion and invited Doris Lee as a special guest for the event. It's unknown why Aleksander Kovak was not invited but it's possible that the three members were trying to take the money for themselves and leave nothing to Kovak. However, Kovak learned about the reunion between his former members and their dirty plans, and decided to contact the ICA to put a contract for their elimination, taking the money for himself. Dorian Lang, Guillaume Maison, Doris Lee and their bodyguards were all subsequently killed during the wedding ceremony by Agent 47 or Knight and Stone.
Nightcall[]
GNN reported that with all of his former colleagues now dead, Kovak finally retrieved the money, but was subsequently arrested by Interpol in Panama City while attempting to convert the spoils of the casino heist--close to 50 million US dollars--into bitcoin. Several nations were lining up to prosecute Kovak, including Russia, Germany, the US, and Austria, where Kovak became the prime suspect in the murder of his colleagues during Elizabeth Lang's wedding.
The Ark Society[]
If 47 covertly steals the Cloud Serpent jewel necklace from its case in the Ark of Legacy gallery, Blake Nathaniel will later muse that it might be the work of one of the Yardbirds, but realizes Kovak was arrested in Panama.
Golden Handshake[]
Head of Security Mateo Pérez jokes with Fabian Mann that the alleged overnight break-in at Milton-Fitzpatrick's New York branch was carried out by The Yardbirds.
The Farewell[]
When Tamara Vidal asks Diana Burnwood about 47's targets and asks about Kovak's death, Diana confirms her suspicion and says that he indeed killed Kovak.
