Traditions of the Trade is the 9th mission in Hitman: Codename 47. It was remastered as the 7th mission in Hitman: Contracts, while Agent 47 was having flashbacks.

Frantz Fuchs is your target. Normally we would not care about the leaders, but preventing the attack will make us popular with many governments and could mean a new clientele for our business.

Description[]
After Agent 47's entanglement within the Colombian jungle, he is sent another mission by the Agency, this time to Budapest.
47 is contracted by a client to kill Frantz Fuchs at the Hotel Gellért, afterward, collect the chemical bomb the target was planning to detonate at the United Nations conference simultaneously taking place.

Our customer has requested the bomb, so you have to take it out of the hotel.

- Our customer wants terrorist Frantz Fuchs dead and the special chemical bomb that he is planning to use at the hotel.
- Frantz Fuchs has arrived to the hotel several days before the convention. He will probably check in under the assumed name Heinrich Wulff. It is very unlikely that Fuchs is hiding the bomb in his hotel room. So you must do some investigation to find some clues.
- Metal detectors have been placed at all checkpoints in the hotel. But it is a big hotel and our intelligence has found out that not all routes are blocked.
- Investigate the hotel to find a safe escape route. The usual pickup will be waiting for you at the rendezvous point.

47 has a flashback that takes him to the Hotel Galar in Budapest, Hungary. Here, he has to assassinate two brothers, Fritz and Franz Fuchs, Belgian terrorists that seek to attack the UF Summit taking place at the same hotel using a chemical bomb. The 3 floor hotel has a bar, swimming pool, sauna and a dentist office, but also has several metal detectors, and dozens of armed guards.

Hello 47. The Fuchs brothers are at it again. Frantz Fuchs appears to be planning to detonate a chemical bomb at a UN conference in Budapest. He's staying at the "Thermal Bath Hotel". He's registered as "Bjorn Wulff", our client wants Fuchs taken out as discreetly as possible and wants the bomb retrieved, for analysis. Security is very tight, so discretion is the key. Once you've taken care of business, we'll send you a car to pick you up.

Bugs & oversights[]
- Shooting the Chemical Bomb doesn't set it off.
- If the Chemical Bomb is retrieved without the suitcase, civilians will panic and guards will open fire on 47, despite the fact that he is carrying a bomb.
- In Hitman: Codename 47, wearing the Bellboy outfit and talking to the receptionist triggers a conversation. During this conversation, Agent 47 mistakenly uses the voice lines for the Bellboy with the Bellboy voice actor instead of David Bateson, the voice actor of 47.

- One of the ways to assassinate Fritz Fuchs, drowning, is shown in the Hitman Legacy Opening Cinematic.
Codename 47[]
- In Hitman: Codename 47, the hotel is named the "Hotel Gallàrd" while in Hitman: Contracts it is the "Hotel Galar"
- In addition, the hotel is based on the real life Hotel Gellért.
- Apart from Training, this is the only mission in Hitman: Codename 47 in which disguises can be found as clothing pickups, instead of having to be snatched from npcs. Another aspect unique to Training and this mission is the balcony jump are only possible in these two levels.
- The loading screen showing 47 holding Franz Fuchs, at gunpoint with his Hardballer, cannot realistically happen in-game as walk-through metal detectors with armed security personnel guard the only entrance (that 47 has access to, gameplay wise) and there not being a way to either turn of the detectors, otherwise smuggle in a gun, or obtain an identical replacement. Trying to shoot your way in will most likely result in either 47's death or a too high amount of security personnel deaths, resulting in mission failure.
- Despite Fritz not being an official target, he is still required to be killed as there is no non lethal method of obtaining the key from his body.
Contracts[]
- In the northeast section of the first floor of the hotel, a Ghost can be found floating in the hallways of the restricted wing, and in the bathtubs in hotel rooms. He can be seen through the mirror. If Agent 47 uses the fiber wire on the ghost, the "body" can be found and guards will act accordingly.
- There are areas included on the map but that are inaccessible to the player, such as rooms and corridors, are actually completely empty and void of any solid surface.
- Using the Teleport command while throwing a target's corpse onto the opposite balcony will cause the target to be removed from the map, thus failing the mission as there is no check for the body to be dead and it is not found in the current mission.
