Viñedo Yates is a prestigious winery and vineyard located in Mendoza, Argentina, and the setting of The Farewell, the fifth and penultimate mission in HITMAN™ III.
Background[]
The winery became a household name in the American collectors market due to its association with legendary New York lawyer Don "Cojones" Yates of Morgan, Yates & Kohn, the son of Helena Castro of the famed wine-making Castro family in Argentina. The wine-making facility produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Malbec, a staple of Mendoza. Kept in cold storage is one of the few remaining bottles of the 1945 Grand Paladin--the rarest and most expensive wine in the world--which was gifted to Yates by a former client.
Facilities[]
The Tasting Room[]
Located near the basement trance to the Yates' villa, tour guests can taste from a wide selection of premium house wines, including those that are no longer available commercially.
The Barrel Room[]
The wine is stored in oak barrels during the long secondary stage of fermentation. The barrel room also contains a spacious wine fridge where the estate's most valuable wines are kept in cold storage, including the prized 1945 Grand Paladin, which is locked behind a laser and keypad. The fridge doors are made from ballistic glass and can only be unlocked from the upstairs security room.
Fermentation Atrium[]
Guests can observe the winemaking process from public viewing spaces high above the production floor.
Dining Patio[]
Viñedo Yates features a spectacular dining patio on top of their winemaking facility. The space is specifically designed for lavish dining with breathtaking views of the Andes, and a rotating cast of Michelin chefs makes the vineyard a popular attraction with local foodies.
The Villa[]
The Yates family residence lies adjacent to the winemaking facility. This is the ancestral home of Valentina Morales Yates and one of the oldest buildings in Mendoza. It features a foyer, guest room, kitchen, and several verandas with a commanding view of both of an Andean lake off the back porch as well as the public winery itself. Beneath the villa lies a maze of corridors leading to the other sections of the winery as well as a wine cellar and basement.
Employees[]
- Don Yates: Owner of the winery.
- Gabriel Vargas: Chief winemaker.
- Juan Cortázar: Yates' head of security.
- The Llosa Brothers: Pablo Llosa and Mario Llosa are famous chefs hired to prepare a traditional asado, or Argentinian barbecue.

Trivia[]
- The name Viñedo Yates, meaning "Yates's Vineyard", is likely a reference to the British pub chain Yates's Wine Lodge.
- Vinedo Yates' architecture strongly resembles the Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery in Tuscany.
