Vitaly Reznikov is a target that appears in the Crime and Punishment mission in HITMAN™ 2: Sniper Assassin.
He is the warden and owner of the privately-owned prison known as Perm-14, and is also the employer of the Siberian Tigers, a mercenary death squad.
Background[]
Growing up in the dying flames of the cold war, Vitaly Reznikov is a former KGB operative who worked on exposing foreign spies in the motherland. He traveled most of the Soviet Union and made friends and enemies in all places. He saved the life of a high ranking KGB officer who, after the collapse of the Union and East Block, ensured Reznikov was taken care of and was given a ranking position within the FSB.
It was through his work there that Reznikov discovered several abandoned facilities in Siberia; old work camps from the cold war days. Eager to carve out some independance for himself in a growing economy, Reznikov pulled some strings within the system and assumed control of three of the seven facilities he'd located.
Over the course of the next nine years, Reznikov rebuilt the former work camps into functional prisons, eventually housing some of the state's most controversial prisoners. Reports of abuse, disappearances and corruption slowly started trickling out one camp, Perm-14, and rumors presist that Warden Reznikov is letting high-ranking prisoners leave the facilities if they pay enough.
Now, fearing investigations by the United Nations Human Rights Council, Reznikov has decided to play his last gambit - accept a multimillion dollar bribe from the Russian mobster Roman Khabko and help facilitate the prisoner's escape.― Target Intel
Trivia[]
- Vitaly bears a resemblance to Russian president Vladimir Putin. Similar to Reznikov, Putin also served in the KGB.
- When Vitaly Reznikov enters his office in the Perm-14 administration building, he will examine a world map with a HAVEN pamphlet pinned upon it, covering the Maldives.
- HAVEN specializes in identity realignment and reputation management. As the United Nations Human Rights Council began an investigation into his prison facility, Reznikov may have been considering escaping and changing his identity in the event that the suspected brutality of the prison was verified.
- Vitaly Reznikov is one of the very few targets throughout the Hitman franchise that can be killed by another target. Roman Khabko, in a fit of rage, will choke Reznikov to death if they are left alone outside Perm-14's administration building while the prison is rioting.
