The White Void is a recurring visual motif featured in Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money. It is a white, featureless space that appears during various scenes throughout the series. Seemingly endless, it is empty except for the relevant characters, blood, and, in case of Hitman: Contracts, a door. It usually appears at important moments in the games' story. It is not a physical space, but a method of visually emphasizing the importance of certain events without the distraction of physical surroundings.

Appearances[]

Hitman: Codename 47[]

  • Whenever 47 dies. There is also an unique cutscene for 47 getting killed by the Jungle God.
  • When 47 kills Dr. Ort-Meyer at the end of the game.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin[]

Hitman: Contracts[]

  • During the opening cutscene of the Asylum Aftermath mission, in which Agent 47 shoots an Agent 48, then shoots Dr. Ort-Meyer.
    • The mission itself beings in a circular white-lit room, with Agent 47 standing over the dead body of Dr. Ort-Meyer. Whether or not this is an instance of the White Void appearing as a physical space is up for debate.

Trivia[]

  • The introductory cutscene for Mark Parchezzi III takes place in a black void, fitting his overall theme as "47's counterpart".
  • A similar visual motif is used in the opening sequence of Untouchable, the final mission in the World of Assassination trilogy, featuring a black void known as Reflection. It takes place within the mind of 47; during the sequence, 47 witnesses memories of various events of the WoS trilogy.
  • The Assassin's Creed series also has a concept somewhat similar to the White Void called the Memory Corridor; the series' protagonists often find themselves inside the Corridor during plot-critical moments, as well as loading screens.
  • White Void is also somewhat similar to the early stages of the Construct in The Matrix film series, which appears as large, empty white space.
