Yamaguchi-Gumi is a Yakuza syndicate existing in real life. In Hitman 2: Silent Assassin it was lead by Masahiro Hayamoto and his son Masahiro Hayamoto Jr.. It appears in the missions Tracking Hayamoto, Hidden Valley, At the Gates and Shogun Showdown.

The Yamaguchi-gumi is Japan's largest and most powerful Yakuza syndicate. It is named after its founder Harukichi Yamaguchi. Its origins can be traced back to a loose labor union for dockworkers in Kobe before World War II. It is one of the largest criminal organizations in the world. According to the National Police Agency, it had 3,500 active members at the end of 2023.
The Yamaguchi-gumi are among the world's wealthiest gangsters, bringing in billions of dollars a year from extortion, gambling, prostitution, arms trafficking, drug trafficking, real estate and construction kickback schemes. They are also involved in stock market manipulation and Internet pornography.
The Yamaguchi-gumi has its headquarters in Kobe, Japan, but it operates all across Japan and does overseas operations in Asia and the United States. They also have multiple covert groups working overseas. Historically. Yamaguchi enforcers were visible as bodyguards, however they often employed the use of ninjas as covert agents or mercenaries.
Present head (Oyabun) of the syndicate in real life is Shinobu Tsukasa(Real name is Kenichi Shinoda).
Syndicate's Mercenaries[]
While the image of a ninja clad in black garb is more common, Yamaguchi-Gumi mercenaries (Hayamoto's Ninjas) were experts and concealing themselves and camouflaging themselves with their environment. While indoors they dressed in black combat clothing to reduce their visibility is darkened areas.They are equipped with katana, firearms, protection gears and night vision googles. .
Regular action forces[]
Yamaguchi-Gumi guard units (Hayamoto's bodyguards) are seen in the mission Tracking Hayamoto, equipped with MP-5 SMGs and 9mm pistols with the looks of a regular gangster, wearing either vests as topwear or suits and sunglasses. Those guards wearing vests can be seen with white coloured traditional Japanese tattoos (Irezumi) on their body.
